Julie Jackson, Erica Holliam Join KidSmart

In late July KidSmart welcomed two new interns. Julie Jackson is working the public relations and marketing, and corporate and donor relations departments and Erica Holliam is working in the development department writing grants.

Julie Jackson is a May 2006 graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia, where she received a Bachelors of Arts & Science in Communication. While there she was very active in the Pi Beta Phi sorority and local charities such as Komen Race for the Cure. Before coming to KidSmart Julie also interned at KEZK, 102.5 FM. “Working at KidSmart has been a wonderful opportunity. It is great to be working for such a worthwhile cause and a I look forward to the next few months,” says Julie.

At KidSmart Julie is working on coordinating buildings and volunteers for the Push for Pencils community-wide supply drive and helping with general public relations and marketing activities. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family. As a family they love traveling together, even if it’s only to watch the Tigers play at Faurot Field on a Saturday morning.

Erica Holliam is serving as a grant writing intern for KidSmart. Her role at KidSmart consists of researching funding opportunities for KidSmart and writing grant proposals. “There is never a dull moment at KidSmart! It’s a great place to work,” notes Erica.

In December 2005, Erica obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in Professional Writing from Webster University. She also has a minor in scriptwriting. She is continuing her education by working on a Masters degree in Media Communications from Webster University. When she is not busy interning for KidSmart and studying at Webster, Erica works part-time at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where she is a file clerk in the human resources department. She also enjoys reading and finding great shoes.
