Tens of thousands of St. Louis area kids need you! More than 90,000 local students are living in poverty and attending a high poverty school. For many of these students back to school time is embarrassing, not exciting.
They aren’t going out to pick out the fancy folders or brand new shoes. These students feel like they have failed the school year before it even starts. The students are expectated to come to school prepared and equipped with the supplies provided on a list from their teachers.
Often times the reality for their families is they are daily struggling to provide life essentials such as food and shelter… even the most basic school supplies are too often a “luxury” item.
By donating supplies August 1-31 at one of KidSmart’s community partners, YOU will make an extrordinary difference in the education of a child this school year! Thank you for your support!
Drop off locations include:
- BMO Harris Bank
- LookAfter Hair Company
- Waterway (Started July 18, 2016)
Thank you Ladue Chapel Mission Crew for helping organize the Free Store and prepare KidSmart for the 2016-2017 school year. Your support and efforts enable KidSmart to equip tens of thousands of students living in poverty with school supplies they otherwise would lack. Thank you for believing in their hopes and dreams!
Thank you BMO Harris for selecting KidSmart to be a part of the 2016 BMO Volunteer Day.
On Thursday February 4th, The St. Louis Blues hosted the 8th annual KidSmart Night at the Blues. Since 2008, Blues Fans have donated thousands of desperately needed school supplies and more than $30,000 to support St. Louis area students. Thank you Blues Fans!
This annual school supply drive was started by former Captain and Olympic Gold Medalist, Eric Brewer. Though Brewer is no longer with the St. Louis Blues, he is still a huge advocate and partner for KidSmart and the tens of thousands of St. Louis area children who need school supplies to be successful each year. This year, Brewer took over KidSmart’s twitter to personally thank Blues Fans for continuing what he started and he even answered questions sent in by fans.
KidSmart serves 110 high-poverty schools in the St. Louis area just like the ones Brewer visited… full of students with the desire and ability to learn. Hearing a child excited about receiving a pencil is a sound you never forget. The St. Louis Blues annually sponsor one of these schools to ensure each and every student at that school has access to essential school supplies… pencils, paper, markers, glue, crayons, etc. These tools are basic, yet critical to have to be able to learn and succeed in school. Often times for students living in poverty and attending a high-poverty school, these items are a “luxury” their parents cannot afford.
On behalf of the 68,000 students relying on KidSmart throughout each and every school year, thank you Blues Fans, St. Louis Blues, and the Brewer family for your continued support.

Every donation makes a difference in the life of a child. $30 equips an entire classroom with needed pencils. KidSmart is proud that more than 90% of the annual revenue directly benefits local children in need.

Happy Birthday KidSmart! KidSmart celebrated 14 years of equipping local kids in need with free school supplies by surprising the students and staff at Griffith Elementary, in the Ferguson Florissant School District. Presented by Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the surprise celebration included cupcakes, balloons, new backpacks filled with new school supplies and special appearances by Fredbird, Louie...and the final St. Louis public appearance by KidSmart’s good friend, Rampage!
“What an amazing event. Being able to see the excitement in the kids was so neat!!!” -Tina Passanise-Emig, Royal Papers
Each year, KidSmart selects one of its 150 schools and surprises the students and staff with a fun-filled, all school, surprise birthday party. The smiles, awe and joy on the faces of the students are simply unforgettable. After an all school assembly, Enterprise, the mascots, classroom sponsors and KidSmart favorite, Ralph Butler, joined the students in their classrooms for cupcakes, decorating party hats and singing “Happy Birthday”...Ralph Butler style.
Special thanks to KidSmart’s Birthday Bash Classroom Sponsors: Wells Fargo Advisors, Target, St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, and Schaefer Auto Body. Thanks to the generosity from Enterprise Holdings and the classrooms sponsors, every student at Griffith Elementary received a new backpack filled with brand new schools supplies… Tools they desperately needed to learn and succeed.
“I love being a part of charitable causes that embody such a clear sense of purpose, and then do an amazing job connecting with their end users. Today, the volunteers at KidSmart achieved that and more. I was excited to be a part of an event that clearly made a huge difference in the live of so many kids.” Laura Dieberg, Dierbergs.
Mr. Sean Joyce, Principal at Griffith Elementary, and his staff have worked diligently to improve the lives of their students, both academically and socially. Because of the great efforts and hard work by all, Griffith Elementary shines as an exemplary KidSmart School!
“We truly appreciate your generosity and kindness in making our Griffith family feel so special. The students are still talking about their backpacks and all the fun they had with the mascots and guest!”
-Ms Spencer, Griffith Elementary.
